This is a photo of a 'restored' XIX from the 'Battle of Britain' Flight. It was a plane, such as this, in this livery that made a forced landing at Spanish Point on the west coast of County Clare. One story told about this event was that the local Medical Doctor ministered to the injuries of the pilot. A son of that Doctor was later to become a Medical Doctor also. Later, following a second career in politics he was to become President of the Republic of Ireland.
