Adopt a Donkey

If you would like to support the donkeys, donations of cash or feedstuffs (including carrots and ginger biscuits) are always appreciated. Should you wish to sponsor one of the donkeys on the Adopt-a-Donkey Scheme, we recommend a minimum payment of 15 €  a year for which you will receive a signed certificate of adoption, a photograph of your chosen donkey and two newsletters within the year of sponsorship. As a special gift for a relative or friend we will gladly include your personal greetings card if you send it to us with an adoption application. To adopt a donkey, please send your details along with your donation to the address below.

Please note that occasionally a young, fit donkey may be rehomed on our foster-home scheme.

The following donkeys are available for adoption

The following animals are available for sponsorship under our Adopt a Donkey/Pony Scheme

Solomon - large pale fawn donkey gelding of around 30 years old with an affectionate nature and a large, fluffy head. He is very vocal and “sings” to attract attention. Solomon came to us from a horse fair and was in very poor condition.

Neddy Flat Tyres - a placid, soft hearted, small grey donkey gelding with a friendly, affectionate but independent nature who thinks all humans are to be used primarily as rubbing posts!

Pandora - a timid, mid brown mare who looks a great deal younger than her 30 years, Pandora is mistrustful of humankind and needs time to get to know you. She was once a working donkey but was abandoned when her owner died

Hezekiah - a handsome, rangey, almost black donkey gelding, probably in his mid thirties who loves to be stroked and groomed but dislikes noisy, energetic people. Hezekiah came to us through another animal welfare group who found him abandoned on a bog in Co. Roscommon

Bonnie - a dainty, petite mid brown donkey mare in her late twenties who has a shy but affectionate nature and a liking for ginger biscuits, carrots and peppermints. She was a working donkey who was abandoned when her owner moved away.

Penny Biscuit - an enchanting, elderly piebald Shetland pony mare who has suffered most of her life from recurrent laminitic attacks and, more recently, arthritis in the fetlock joints. She is an adorable personality who appreciates attention.

Adoption fee: €15 per year.        Thank you

May the road always rise to meet you, and may the wind always be at your back.
