Art and Crafts

Students may design a poster designed to attract visitors to their country.This may be done with or without the aid of a computer.

Using clay, modelling sticks or scraps of paper the children may constuct a model of a Viking ship.

Maths

Distance-Find the distance from various cities.

Money-Compare and contrast the prices for a number of items in each of the coutries.Find out how much it would take to fly to each of the coutries and estimate initially how much money you would need to spend a week on holidays in each of the countries.

Time-How long would it take to travel from Dublin to Norway?

Creative Writing

You are going on a trip to one of the countries Norway, Sweden or Denmark.Use the following set of questions to help you write your story.

Write about the things you already know about the destination and the things you would like to learn.

What will you wear on your trip?

How will you travel there?

Are there legends about the area you are going to visit?
Are there any famous people (football players, popgroups)from that country you would like to meet?
Are there any special places you would like to visit?
What historical places are there in the country?
What geographical features will you visit?
How will you travel around the country that you are going to visit?
What are the main differences between here and where you live?

Mapping.Find out about the neighbouring countries surrounding Norway, Sweden and Denmark.Find out what the flags of the various countries are like.

Find out the history of the countries.You may decide to explore a particular aspect of one of the countries in more detail for example A Study of The Vikings.

SESE

Compare and contrast the lifestyle of a child in Norway, Sweden or Denmark to the lifestyle of an Irish child.
