Route one

Walkers do it in Rathbarry
suitable for both cycling and walking

Section A (common to both routes):
What better place to strat than at the monument to one of the area's famous son's Dan O'Leary, a champion in the world of walkers. This is situated in the midle of Rathbarry village in an areaknow locally as the Caiteach. Glaotar "An Caiteach" ar an gCrosbhotlar seo. From here go north-east in the Clonakilty direction, passing teh information board and stop at Rathbarry Church , Seipal Naomh Mhicil. Section B
Now leave the village in a south-eaterly direction, passing An Tabhairne, wiwth its watrewheel and ducks (anything else) in the garden. The road rises gradually and there are fine views of Kilkern Lake and Marsh, as well as the Long Strand and the Galley Lighthouse to your right, an Tra Fhada agus an Teach Solais. When you get to the top of theill, take the first right, down a narrow road, or 'boithrin'. To the end of the boithrin and turn right again. At the end of this road again turn right and go as far as the bridge. Now you have three options.

One.    turn left and walk onto the Long Strand, an Tra Fhada.

Two.   wander up and down the valleys and ridges of the sand dunes.

Three.  stay on the road.
