Disorders of females include all of the headings above. See andropathies also. Problems of female reproductive & sexual function, including anorgasmy and infertility, can be due to psychological / emotional / mental inhibition. (See the importance of the emotions in TCM). Counselling, hypnosis & visualisation can be important in therapy of such cases. As well as addressing any imbalance of Qi or Xue in the Channels or Vessels, etc. (see later), TCM treatment of impotence would address any psychological / emotional / spiritual causes, possibly using the related Spirit Points.
In sexual / gynaecological disorders, choose points on BL, CV, GV, LV, KI, SP Channels (most authors) & on PC, HT, LU ( 391). The KI, SP, LV, HT, PC, LU are also useful in emotional / psychosexual problems.

If there is any suspicion of pregnancy, one should do a pregnancy test (urine or blood progesterone, ultrasound scan). Amenorrhoea (absence of menstruation) can arise in hormonal & psychological imbalance also. There may be an association with female athleticism, undernutrition, anorexia nervosa & poor self-image. Oligomenorrhoea (scanty periods) or oligoamenorrhoea can arise in similar conditions. If there are symptoms such as anorexia, depression, etc, additional points may be added.
