The Galway Circus Project (old web site): Workshops

Workshops description...

  • make your own circus

with little material you can equip your school or community group with juggling equipment to keep. Juggling balls or devilstcks, pois or magic tricks. We show you how to do it and later what to do with it.

This workshop aims at all ages, but juggling is easier to learn for young people, who are older than eight, so here an example:

1st and 2nd class do a small magic trick, 3rd and 4th class are making juggling balls, 5th and 6th class work on devilsticks, these workshops for 1st-4 th class last1hour, for 5th and 6th min. 2hours, which means, we come to your schools for one day, go from class to class and at the end of the day you have the full juggling equipment you need for lots of fun activities and school shows. Then you decide how often you want us to come and teach workshops to groups of max. 25 children, bring the teachers as well and you won't need us for long, after a while you become your own tutors.

And when you trained long enough and you want to show it, we are happy to help with choreography and costumes.

  • the circus workshop

this time we come with all our material, the parachute, the juggling equipment, the mats (and optional the costumes) to transform your place into a magic circus tent. We will cater for groups of all sizes and keep them happy for as long as you want, but remember, once the group is bigger than 30 young people, the chances of learning something are getting smaller.

the space for the workshop needs to be big enough and empty!!!

We will entertain everybody with warming up games, small bits of floor acrobatics and basic juggling games. If there is enough time, we might even throw a show together. Seeing is believing!!! (In Moycullen we did a workshop with 250 children-more than we thought would come- and everybody was still alive after 3 hours!!!!!)
