Founded in 1973 the association is the official organisation of the floral art movement in Ireland.  The initial membership of just twelve clubs has grown to 105 and embraces all areas of the country from Donegal to Cork to Galway to Dublin.

Although primarily an association of clubs, AOIFA also has individual members including many from Northern Ireland.  Its objectives are to bring together for cultural and educational purposes all those clubs and individuals interested in floral art.
