Ballincollig A.C. was founded in 1995 with the aim of giving every child in Ballioncollig an oppotunity to participate in athletics.  The club is now one of the biggest athletic clubs in Cork County with over a hundred juvenile members and a number of senior members.  The club has been very successful to date winning titles at every level from county to national level.

Training Times:

Monday: CIT Track, Bishopstown. 6.30pm—7.30pm

Tuesday & Thursday: Ballincollig Community School Gym,

Innishmore, Ballincollig. 7.00pm—8.00pm

Joining Ballincollig A.C.

You do not have to be a fast runner to become involved in athletics, only enthusiastic and open minded. The club has coaches for all athletic events and looks after athletes of all standards. Juveniles, once they are over 9 yrs of age, are welcome to join the club. The club also has a senior section, adults of all ages and standards are more than welcome to join the club.  To join the club, simply approach an official or coach or email ballincolligac@eircom.net.  Membership fees are very reasonable and cover the whole year.

Highlights of 1999

March/April -Club competes for the first time in the Indoor Championships.

May - Club wins best overall club at Fanahan McSweeney Sports and Grange Fermoy Sports.

June -Elaine O’ Leary becomes the first girl from the club to win a gold medal a Munster T&F Championships in U/11 60mH. Hazel Reck also wins gold in U/17 Hammer at same championships.

July -Girls U/11 Team win Bronze at Munster T&F Team Event and go on to national championships. (Maria O’Donoghue, Charlotte Downing, Sarah Cotter, Elaine O’Leary, Ciara Spillane)

-James Reilly, Cian Sheppard and Ian Horgan win individual medals at national championships.  James—Bronze U/16 100m & 200m, Cian—Silver U/16 400m, Ian—Bronze U/15 200m.

-Gearóid Kelly and Seán O’Sullivan win silver medals at national multi-events.

-Boys U/16 win Gold at national Relay Championships (Cian Sheppard, Seán O’Sullivan, James Reilly, Ian Horgan, Thomas Reck). Boys U/17 win Silver (Gearóid Kelly, James Reilly, ).  Boys U/13 win Bronze (Bryan O’Sullivan, Gary Foolkes, Stephen O’Donoghue, Alan Donovan, Ger Kelliher).

-Club win best overall girls club at Carrigtwohill Sports.

-Conn Donovan, Bryan Glavin, Alan Donovan, Jennifer Murphy all win medals at national inter-county Juvenile T&F championships.

August -Seán O’Sullivan, Cian Sheppard, Ian Horgan, Gearóid Kelly, Michael Mullane, James Reilly, Hazel Reck and Aoife McCarthy all selected for Munster team for international Competition.

-Seán O’Sullivan wins best overall athlete at Midleton A.C. Open Sports.

-Cork City Region win County Senior League. Of all the clubs in this region Ballincollig A.C. scores the second greatest number of points.

November -Girls U/12 win the national cross country championship Team competition and become the first team from the club to win a national title in cross country. Tríona O’ Neill wins an individual medal and also scores for Munster team. (Team—Tríona O’ Neill, Katie Fitzgerald,Gemma Campion, Andrea Raggett, Laura Linehan)

-Club wins best overall club in county cross country championships for the first time.
