January
- Pat Kelly & Martin O'Sullivan win medals at National
Veteran Indoor Championships.
- Seán O'Sullivan, Ronan Foolkes, Thomas McKenna, Diarmuid
Bowe win medals at the Munster Junior Indoor Championships
- Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships U/13 to U/18
- Diarmuid Bowe (Boys U/18, 400m), Seán O'Sullivan (Boys U/18, 200m),
Elaine O'Leary (Girls U/13, 60mH) win Gold. Aoife Cooke (Girls U/15,
800m), Bryan O'Sullivan (Boys U/15, Shot), Katie Fitzgerald (Girls U/17,
High Jump), Thomas McKenna (Boys U/18, Long Jump) and Diarmuid Bowe
(Boys U/18, 60m) win Silver. Seán O'Sullivan, Ronan Foolkes, Kerry
Crowley, Thomas McKenna, Aoife Cooke, Anne Cooney win Bronze. All the
above and Jennifer Murphy qualify for the National Junior Indoor
Championships.
- National B Cross-Country Championships - The
Girls U/16 team win gold (Kerry Crowley, Edel Murphy, Linda O'Reilly, Lisa
O'Sullivan), Kerry Crowley comes 2nd in the girls U/16, Anne Cooney comes
2nd in the Girls U/18. Kevin O'Reilly comes 3rd in the Boys
U/18. Boys U/14 team win bronze (Lawrence Prunty, Peter Fennell, Conn
Donovan, Michael Daly, David Sweeney), Lawrence Prunty comes 4th in the
race. Girls U/12 team win silver (Maria O'Donoghue, Sarah Cotter,
Niamh O'Sullivan, Emily Miller, Emma Kearney, Denise Cronin, Ciara Spillane,
Edel Raggett, Elaine O'Leary, Jenny Cotter, Margerat O'Sullivan).
- Cork County Novice B Cross-Country Championships
- The club fields it's first senior womens team of Nooreen Crowley, Una
Raggett and Ann Walsh. The ladies win gold in the team competition and
all win individual medals, Noreen Crowley 2nd, Una Raggett 3rd, Ann Walsh
4th.
February
- Munster Indoor U/11 and U/12 Championships -
In the Boys U/12 Adrian Hanley wins silver in the long jump while Seán
O'Gorman wins bronze in the 60m.
- Munster Indoor Pentathlon - Seán O'Sullivan
wins silver in the boys U/18, while Thomas McKenna comes 4th. Katie
Fitzgerald wins silver in the girls U/18.
May
- Club Competes at Munster Junior T&F Championships
winning 15 medals. 3 Relay Teams fielded win medals, including the
first girls 4x400m relay team (Aoife Cooke, Edel Murphy, Kerry Crowley,
Katie Fitzgerald).
- Thomas McKenna and Seán O'Sullivan become fiorst athletes
to compete at Munster senior level for the club at the Munster Senior
T&F championships in the CIT Track. Thomas comes 3rd in the triple
jump. Veteran Ladies compete at Munster competition for the
frist time for the club at the Munster Veteran T&F Championships, relay
team of Una Raggett, Noreen Crowley, Helen Kelly and Anne Walsh come 3rd.
- Club wins 76 medals at Cork County Juvenile T&F
Championships. Club fields first girls 4x400m relay team at U/17
(Katie Fitzgerald, Catherine O'Toole, Edel Murphy, Kerry Crowley).
Walkers compete for the club for the fist time at girls U/13. Niamh
O'Sullivan comes 1st and Barbara McAllister comes 3rd in the 1500m Walk.
Highlights of 2000
January
- Boys U/14 win gold at national B cross country championships
(David Sweeney, Bryan O’Sullivan, Stephen O’Donoghue, Jayme Collins, Michael
Daly, Lawrence Prunty, Conn Donovan, Colm O’Callaghan). Girls U/14 win Gold
(Edel Murphy, Kerry Crowley, Linda O’Reilly, Brenda Spillane, Aoife Cooke,
Yvonne O’ Connor, Jennifer Murphy) Boys U/16 win gold (Ronan Foolkes, Kieran
Crowley, Kevin Reilly, Thomas McKenna, Colm McKenna, Diarmuid Bowe). Other medal
winners were Peter Fennell, Mary Cooney, Lisa O’Sullivan, Sinéad Cooney,
Norma Fitzgerald, Hazel Reck and Anne Cooney. Cub wins best overall club title
at National B Cross Country Championships.
- Senior Men win first senior cross country title for club at Novice B Cross
country championships.(Thomas McKenna, Christy Walsh, Martin O’ Sullivan, Tony
Cooney, Diarmuid Bowe).
February
- Kerry Crowley wins the first AAI medal for club at Munster
Indoor Championships. (3rd in U/15 800m). Seán O’Gorman becomes the
first AAI Munster Champion in the U/11 60m, also the first AAI Munster Champion
in the Club. Aoife McCarthy becomes first girl from the club to become an AAI
Munster Champion.
March/April
- Bryan O’ Sullivan wins silver in U/14 Shot at National
Indoor Championships and becomes the first athlete from the club to win a
national AAI medal. U/17 Boys 4 x 200m RelayTeam wins Bronze at national
championships.
- Club competes for first time in Munster Indoor Relay Competition Team sent
wins gold in 60mH, silver 800m, bronze Relay and fourth in shot. Girls U/12 Team—Holly
Lyons, Charlotte Downing, Stephanie McGill, Niamh O’Sullivan, Sarah Cotter,
Barbara McAllister, Elaine O’Leary and Maria O’Donoghue.
- Club third best overall club at Munster Junior and U/23 T&F
Championships. Only club’s second time competing at these championships.( Team—Gearóid
Kelly, Thomas McKenna, Sean O’Sullivan, Ian Horgan, Cian Sheppard, Ronan
Foolkes, Aoife McCarthy, Hazel Reck)
May
- Club win 76 medals at first Cork AAI Juvenile Championships. 26
Gold, 25 Silver, 25 Bronze. Of the nineteen relay teams fielded, 14 Teams
qualify for National AAI Relay Championships and 12 teams win medals. 3 Gold, 5
Silver, 4 Bronze. First 4 x 400m Relay team fielded at juvenile championships
wins Gold.
- Club fields first Senior Relay Teams at Cork Senior AAI Championships at
CIT. Both Teams win Bronze 4 x 100m Team—(49.6)

June
- Club competes in Munster U/8 to U/13 AAI T&F Championships.
Elaine O’Leary wins Gold in U/12 70mH, first athlete in the club to
successfully defend a Munster title. Adrian Hanley 4th U/11 65mH, Seán O’Gorman
4th U/11 80m, Tríona O’Neill 4th U/13 1500m. Kieran O’Sullivan 1st U/11
Ball Throw, Nigel Cotter 3rd U/11 Ballthrow. Boys U/10 win Silver in 4x50m Relay
(James & Daniel Murphy, Jack O’Mahony, Daniel O’Sullivan, Robert Deane).
July
- Club competes in Munster U/14 to U/18 AAI T&F Championships.
Bryan O’Sullivan wins gold in U/14 Javelin & Pole Vault, 2nd in U/14
Hammer, Shot & Discus. Edel Murphy wins U/15 800m and 3rd U/15 250mH. Kieran
Crowley 3rd U/16 3000m, 4th Steeple Chase. Seán O’Sullivan 1st U/17 Pole
Vault, 2nd Javelin. Thomas McKenna 2nd U/17 Pole Vault, 3rd Javelin, 4th Hammer.
Joseph Perrott 3rd U/18 Triple Jump, 4th U/18 Long Jump. Gearóid Kelly 1st U/18
Hammer, Pole Vault, 2nd Shot, Discus, Hammer, 3rd Javelin. Ronan Foolkes 4th
U/16 400mH. James Reilly 2nd U/17 400m, 3rd U/17 100m, 200m. Lawrence Prunty 4th

Perrott, James Reilly, Seán O’Sullivan, Thomas McKenna).
- National T&F Championships: Gearóid Kelly wins Silver in
U/18 Shot, Bronze in Discus and Hammer. Bryan O’Sullivan wins Silver in U/14
Discus, Bronze in Javelin. Thomas McKenna wins Bronze in U/17 Pole Vault. James
Reilly 4th U/17 400m. Boys U/17 Relay 3rd (James Reilly, Thomas McKenna, Seán O’Sullivan,
Ronan Foolkes, Diarmuid Bowe).
- National Vets T&F Championships: Martin O’Sullivan 1st
Javelin, 2nd High Jump, Long Jump.
Cross Country Season 2000
- Club wins ten teams prizes in the Cork County X-Country
Championships.
- Club wins four team prizes at Munster A' X-Country Championships and one
prize in the Munster B' X-Country Championships.
- Girls U/14 Team win Silver at National A' X-Country Championships (Tríona
O'Neill, Aoife Cooke, Andrea Raggett, Katie Fitzgerald, Gemma
Campion). Club wins 3 team prizes at the National B' X-Country
Championships. Anne Cooney(2nd), Kerry Crowley (2nd) and Kevin
O'Reilly (3rd) win individual medals.
- Club fields its' first ever Ladies Senior Cross Country Team at the Cork
Novice B' Cross Country Championships which wins the team
competition.. (Noreen Crowley 2nd, Una Raggett 3rd, Ann Walsh 4th)
Highlights of 1999
March/April -Club competes for the first time in the Indoor
Championships.
May - Club wins best overall club at Fanahan McSweeney Sports and
Grange Fermoy Sports.
June -Elaine O’ Leary becomes the first girl from the club to win a
gold medal a Munster T&F Championships in U/11 60mH. Hazel Reck also wins
gold in U/17 Hammer at same championships.
July -Girls U/11 Team win Bronze at Munster T&F Team Event and go on
to national championships. (Maria O’Donoghue, Charlotte Downing, Sarah Cotter,
Elaine O’Leary, Ciara Spillane)
-James Reilly, Cian Sheppard and Ian Horgan win individual medals at national
championships. James—Bronze U/16 100m & 200m, Cian—Silver U/16
400m, Ian—Bronze U/15 200m.
-Gearóid Kelly and Seán O’Sullivan win silver medals at national
multi-events.
-Boys U/16 win Gold at national Relay Championships (Cian Sheppard, Seán O’Sullivan,
James Reilly, Ian Horgan, Thomas Reck). Boys U/17 win Silver (Gearóid Kelly,
James Reilly, ). Boys U/13 win Bronze (Bryan O’Sullivan, Gary Foolkes,
Stephen O’Donoghue, Alan Donovan, Ger Kelliher).
-Club win best overall girls club at Carrigtwohill Sports.
-Conn Donovan, Bryan Glavin, Alan Donovan, Jennifer Murphy all win medals at
national inter-county Juvenile T&F championships.
August -Seán O’Sullivan, Cian Sheppard, Ian Horgan, Gearóid Kelly,
Michael Mullane, James Reilly, Hazel Reck and Aoife McCarthy all selected for
Munster team for international Competition.
-Seán O’Sullivan wins best overall athlete at Midleton A.C. Open Sports.
-Cork City Region win County Senior League. Of all the clubs in this region
Ballincollig A.C. scores the second greatest number of points.
November -Girls U/12 win the national cross country championship Team
competition and become the first team from the club to win a national title in
cross country. Tríona O’ Neill wins an individual medal and also scores for
Munster team. (Team—Tríona O’ Neill, Katie Fitzgerald,Gemma Campion, Andrea
Raggett, Laura Linehan)
-Club wins best overall club in county cross country championships for the
first time.
