Peat is a natural resource as it is given to us by nature, once used it can never be restored. there is only a certain amount in the earths crust.  Many of the bogs in Europe have disappeared.  Ireland is the only country in Europe with many hectares of bogland. It is estimated that turf production in our bogs will be finished by the year 2030. If  boglands disappear from the countryside, so too do all the plants, animals and birds that are native to the bogland.
