Make Something Today

Did you ever walk into a hardware store, pick up an item and inquire of the sales assistant if that product would do the job you want it to do. The guy or girl then reads the product label aloud to you and says,
" Ah, Yeah, I suppose it would ".

Did you ever buy an item that nearly worked as it should and left you feeling that it could be improved upon?

It was such behaviour and my own need to have a go and make mistakes that prompted me to start making stuff.

I now think that almost anything is possible, given enough enthusiasm, time and commitment. It's also more fun than just paying up front for everything. I also realised that mistakes don't happen, you just change the plan.

Its just a matter of having a go and making something that works. Sometimes beautiful things are created when priority is given to function, just look at your hands.

When you get right down to it, the real kick is thinking about what is possible and the thrill of seeing something happen. Making this web page was just such a simple thrill and I propose Paul Lutus as the uncrowned king of the web, catch him at arachnoid.com.

My list of homemade stuff to date includes a 16-ft. Junk rigged sail-boat named Bubble, a two-seater garden bench made from a scrap pallet and a router table made from a discarded office coffee table.
Present stuff is a big, simple, timber garden swing for my kids and possible future stuff is an 8 in. Dobsonian telescope, a light, wide canoe for two and more garden furniture.

I am writing all this to convey the thrill that can be got from :
