 According to the Record of Burrane National School and the statement of the oldest resident in the school district Mrs. Catherine Cunningham (Tiervarna) who was 86 years ofage in 1939 (born 1853) and who attended the old school which preceded the present school (built in 1890). 

The principal teachers were:

Mr. Crehan (Christian name unknown)

Mrs Cunningham attended his school until the year 1860 when he was "broke" (dismissal). The cause of his dismissal (Mrs Cunningham states) was that the Inspector arrived one day and found that he had several children marked on the Rolls who was not present on that day. 

Mr John Bermingham was Principal Teacher of Burrane School from 1860 until he resigned on pension on the 31 st December 1906. He attained the age of65 years on the 12th November 1906. He was a member of the Bermingham family who lived in the Pulloway, their home was east of Pat Mclnerney's and north of Peter Daly's. 

Mr Michael Twomey was appointed Principal of the school lst January, 1907. Mr Twomey lived in the village of Knock where his wife was Post Mistress. He conducted night school for many years in Burrane. He resigned in 1949. (March 1949). 

Mr Patrick Shannon was appointed Principal of Burrane School after the resignation of Mr. Twomey in 1949. He taught here till June 30th 1954. He went to Knockerra school. 

Mr Sinan McAuliffe was appointed Principal Teacher ofBurrane National School on July 1 st 1954 to November 1956. He went to Kilmurry School. 

Miss Nora Culligan was appointed Principal Teacher of Burrane National School on November 1956. She taught here till June 30th 1978. 

Mrs Mary Sexton was appointed Principal of Burrane National School on the lst July 1978.
