Peatland world is an ideal place to visit the Bog of Allen and to get a glimpse of what life was like over the last 9500 years. It’s located in the heart of the historic Bog of Allen, associated with Irish tradition and legend since prehistoric times. It consists of a museum and national History Gallery, situated in the beautifully restored stable yard buildings at Lullymore Lodge.
It
shows prehistoric artefacts that were preserved in bogland. It also shows formation and make-up of the bog of Allen and
blanket bogs . They show you examples of turf-cutting implements and equipment
and the animal, bird and insect life. The history of the area and the estate is
presented in a special exhibit at the entrance to the museum. Near
Peatlands is a place called Lullymore Heritage Park,
a community development to celebrate the history and heritage of the future.
