Caragh School is situated in Caragh Village.  We have about 280 pupils in the school, but this number is growing all the time as a lot of new houses are being built in the area.

Enrolling

This form can be printed out and returned to the school.

The Buildings

The school at the moment consists of ten classrooms, a resource room, a staff room, a library and a reading room. Five of the ten classrooms have been built fairly recently, and we should soon be getting two more, as well as a hall. Outside, we have two prefabs, a basketball court, a playground for the younger children and a large field, which is mostly used for football, soccer, etc.

History

The school was built in 1963. Until then, the children of the area went to school across the road, close to the graveyard, in the old school. The first principal of the new school was Paddy Power, who went on to become Minister of Defence. The next principal was Mrs. Teahan, who died recently, may she rest in peace.

Sport

Gaelic football, hurling and soccer are very popular in Caragh, as well as basketball and rounders. To visit our Sports Page click here.
