1.School Website

Creating this Website is one of our projects. We are writing the Website in Word because it is on all the Computers in the Lab and on the Eircom/Dell Computers in our homes.

We bring in our work and we scan in the photos and artwork. 4^th class wrote the Poetry from Prose page and the Book Review pages. 3^rd class wrote about the games we play. 5th Class wrote the Essay page. The history page was written by the pupils in 6^th class. The Congratulations part of the Homepage is written on the day in HTML. Our Computer Teacher helps us put it all together.

Each week we bring in new material for the Website and we hope that you enjoy it. We have all made our own Websites about ourselves. We are collecting Photographs and Artwork.

Children's Folkgames 2000

2. Children's Folkgames 2000 is an International Project collecting information of games children play. March 31, 2000 was the closing date and we collected information on a lot of games.

We have a map on the hall and we will put a piece of string from Ennis to each of the places from which we get an Email. This is the Address of the project Webmaster.

In 5th class we are Emailing a school in Nova Scotia, Canada which we were able to locate on the Excel map too. We each have an Epal and exchange Emails every second week. We hope to learn about their school and town and tell them about our school too.

4th Class are Emailing another School in Ennis, Scoil Chríost Rí and we are doing the history of our School and our area. We have only just started this Email Project.

This was a poetry project with a difference. From one page in Roal Dahls book "The Twits" we had to choose 12 words. We then had to use these words to write a poem and we were delighted with the results. You can see some of the poems on the Poetry from Prose page in the Website. We were able to choose the graphic from an internet site.

We are learning Power Point and we have made a Power Point Presentation about our favourite things. One 5^th class has done a Power Point Presentation on Volcanoes and the others a Power Point Presentation on Clare. 6^th Class are working on a Clickable Map of Clare and the other 6^th Class will make a Power Point Presentation for the Junior Infants on the Junior Reader Tara and Ben. 5th Class will produce a Power Point Presentation on the Poems and Rhymes that the Juniors learn.

We are really enjoying learning Power Point.

This was story writing with a difference. We were in a group with 5 other schools and were writing the same story over one week. We wrote the story on day one and emailed it to all the other schools in the group. The next school wrote the second paragraph and emailed it to the rest of the group too. At the end of the week we had the story finished and we put all the paragraphs together. We formatted the story the way that we liked best and we selected a piece of clipart using the Browse Webart Page. We then printed our story.

One cold, foggy evening in November two young brothers named Jack & Ronald were playing football on the street in front of their house Suddenly, out of the fog, a sleek black limousine drew up silently alongside them. The rear door swung open and a big green hand, enclosed in a tattered sleeve, grabbed Jack and pulled him in to the car. The car slid quietly into the thickening fog, and Ronald

screaming into the driveway of his house.

"Help!", he cried hysterically, as he banged furiously on the front door.

5th &6th Class

Ronalds mum opened the door. "What's all this commotion about, Ronnie?" "Black hand...green car...

Jack kidnapped.............", stuttered Ronald. "Calm down! Calm down! take it easy and tell me what you are on about," responded Ronalds mum who didn't understand a word he had uttered. Ronald took a deep breath to calm himself and related the starting event which had just taken place outside their very own front door. At first Ronalds mum thought that she was the victim of a prank dreamed up by her two imaginative boys, but as there was no evidence of Jacks presence and because of the agitated state of the shocked boy she began to believe him.The panic experienced by Ronald was now passed on to his anxious mother."Whats to be done...?"She asked as her face turned white with apprehension."Ronnie,you run down to the shed for your father while I ring the gardaí.Hurry, we can't waste any time!"Ronald's mum dialed the emergency number.No response.The phone was dead.Ronald returned breathless to say that his father was not in the shed.

St. Thomas Senior School, Jobstown, Tallaght continues:

Suddenly, Mam's attention was drawn to a news-flash ! Several people had reported spotting a strange limousine speeding around the area. Ronnie felt weak at the knees. Ronnies mother rushed next-door to call the police. Mam spoke to the police officer,her voice trembling. "I find your story somewhat incredible, Madam." replied Officer Byrne. Nevertheless the police arrived after a short interval. Roadblocks were set-up throughout the entire country-side. The limousine was spotted speeding towards Oakwood Forest. Enourmous footprints measuring 1.16 m were discovered at the edge of the forest. Meanwhile, Ronnie and his Mother were distraught. It was now over two hours since Jack's dissappearance. At 7.30, the doorbell rang. Officer Byrne looked anxious. He was holding Jack's jacket in his hand.

Mr. Mc Guane's 5th class,C.B.S. Primary, Ennis, continued :

Ronalds Mum screamed. "Madam", said Officer Byrne. "We found this jacket hanging on a briar near a house in Oakwood Forest. The name Jack was printed on the collar. Can you identify it ? " Mum went a light shade of green and stammered "Y...yes. It is definetly Jack's coat. " "Would you like us to take you to the place that we found the coat ? " Officer Byrne asked. "Yes", she answered. " Ronnie, would you like to come too ?" She turned around. "Ronnie? Where are you ? O my god ! He's gone too !" Ronnie appeared, walking in from the kitchen, holding his coat. "what's the big hold-up ?" inquired Ronnie. "O, Ronnie,"gasped his mum, Hugging him warmly." I thought you were gone too!"

It was only a fifteen minute drive in the big squad car to the spot where
Jack's coat had been found but it seemed to take ages.

The two gardaí could get nothing out of the mother and her son. They were
too upset to speak. When she wasn't praying out loud she was crying
hysterically.

Ronnie was also in tears, afraid he might never see his beloved brother
again. Yet, when the car stopped he jumped out to search for clues.
Spotting the enormous footprint in the mud he shouted back to the others
excitedly:

"That's the print of the green flippers Daddy wears when he goes diving in
the sea."

"Are you sure, son?" said his mother, feeling more hopeful for the first time.

"I would know it anywhere." replied Ronnie, "and I know if we can locate
Daddy we will find Ronnie with him!"

They set off with the Gardai to search the woods.Ronnie found a bag hanging on a branch of a tree. The bag contained a towel,a snorkle and goggles. They kept searching and soon they came to the edge of a lake. They saw a small figure on the other side of the lake.Officer Byrne told them to follow him around the side of the lake, but quietly.As they came closer, it became clear that the figure was Jack."Jack! Jack!" they shouted. Jack turned and waved to them. Mammy ran up and hugged him."Where have you been?" she asked. "I've been snorkling with daddy" he said cheerfuly. Just then daddy appeared from the lake. "Hi!" he said.

Mammy said plaintively "why did you take Jack without telling me?" "Well" he said "you know my friend Bob who owns that limo service in town.He was free today so he offered to take me and the boys somewhere for free. I was trying to grab both of you but Bob drove off before I had the chance to grab you Ronnie. I even had to go in my old green gardening jacket and gloves.I am really sorry for upsetting you all".

HAPPY 100TH DAY 2000/2001 FEBRUARY 8TH

Happy 100^th day

In the Happy 100^th day Project we sent Emails to other School on their 100^th day at School and they sent wishes to us in return. Our 100^th day was February 17^th. Friends and relations also sent Greetings and the Emails were displayed in the School Corridor. The Project will be repeated in the year 2001.
