Road Bowling: One of the oldest traditional sports in Cork and is played in one other county in Ireland, in Armagh, Nothern Ireland. It is also played in Germany. The player to cover the longest distance on the road in the least number of throws is deemed the Winner. So, if you see groups of (usually) men on the road on a summer's evening or Sunday afternoon searching the headges along the sides of the roads of Cork, they are probably looking for bowls.
