The Irish Times Review of Máire Brennan "Whisper To The Wild Water"

A short review (available through the Northern Light article library) appeared in the February 12, 2000 edition of The Irish Times newspaper.

Typographical Errors in Máire Brennan "Whisper To The Wild Water" CD Booklet?

Harry in the U.K. informed of us of a number of probable typographical errors which appear in the CD booklet of the U.S. release of "Whisper To The Wild Water". Reports indicate that these errors have not been corrected on the recent released U.K. edition(s) of this same CD. Thanks to Harry for providing us this detailed list.

Celtic Tides on Bravo TV Network St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is soon approaching and with it a slew of Irish-orientated TV specials. The "Celtic Tides" TV special/documentary on popular Celtic musicians will be re-run on the Bravo TV Network in the U.S. on March 17th at 1:00 am ET and again at 9:00 pm ET. The "Celtic Tides" TV program features a short interview of Máire Brennan and classic footage of Clannad's appearance on the BBC "Top Of The Pops" TV show performing "Harry's Game". The Bravo TV network is carried on satellite and cable systems across the U.S.

More Compilations: Clannad - "(The) Celtic Voice"

The flood of Clannad compilation CDs is not over. A Clannad compilation album called "(The) Celtic Voice" is scheduled to be released on the Erin record label March 7, 2000 as is noted on a number of on-line music merchants including CD Now, Amazon.com, CDUniverse, as well as on the on-line music guide All Music Guide. No track listings or pictures of the cover have appeared on those web sites as of this date. The Erin records catalog number for "Celtic Voice" is 15089. A number of other compilation albums on the Erin label from Celtic music groups are to be released on the same date, March 7th, including Altan - "Altan's Finest", Phil Coulter - "Celtic Tranquility", and the Wolfe Tones - "Wolfe Tones Greatest Hits". Thanks to Steve who originally alerted us to this information.

...and Clannad On Another Compilation with Other Artists: "Celtic Voices"

Not to be confused with the title of the Clannad compilation album above, two Clannad songs appear on another compilation album with other Celtic music groups to be released on the Music Club label on February 22, 2000 called "Celtic Voices". Information on this album appears on the on-line music merchant site Amazon.com. According to the track listing, the Clannad songs to be included are "Dulaman" (track 2), and "Gaoth Barra Na d'Tonn" (track 15). The Music Club record label in the past released another Clannad only compilation album called "An Diolaim: Folk Roots of One of Ireland's Groups". Several Reviews of Máire Brennan Albums

Thanks to Barry who sent us a review of Máire Brennan's "Whisper To The Wild Water" album which appeared in the Daily Mail newspaper. This review is of the new U.K. release of "Whisper To The Wild Water" which now includes the Máire duet with Michael McDonald of the Peter Gabriel song "Don't Give Up".

Another review of Máire Brennan's latest solo album "Whisper To The Wild Water" appears in Indigo Coffee House section of music.com, a web music magazine.

Nick Bracegirdle (Chicane) Interview on BBC Radio 1 Web Site

Thanks to Barry and other readers of the News Page for pointing out an interview available on-line which appeared recently on the BBC Radio 1 web site of Nick Bracegirdle (also known as "Chicane") who produced the dance hit "Saltwater" which featured Máire Brennan on vocals. Nick talks about how Máire Brennan re-sang vocals from the Clannad song "Harry's Game" for "Saltwater". Also how Máire was specially flown in to sing the vocals live for "Saltwater" at the MTV festival in Ibiza and the bad luck they had with the performance.

Review of Máire Brennan's "Whisper To The Wild Water"

A review is available on-line through the Northern Light web site which appeared in the January 31, 2000 edition of the "Daily Bruin" newspaper from the University of California - Los Angeles. The reviewer did not give the CD a favorable review.

"The Book of Watermarks" - Máire Brennan Songs on Sony Playstation Game Soundtrack!

In older news, we find that the soundtrack of the Sony PlayStation adventure game called "The Book of Watermarks" released in Japan last July 1999 includes three songs by Máire Brennan - "Kiss The Book", "Set Me Free", and "Like The Baseless Fabric". Note that the web pages for the later three links for the songs are in Japanese and require a Japanese character capable browser. However, the web pages include a Shockwave format sound sample of each of the songs. More information on this can be found at the main official web site for the "The Book of Watermarks" Sony PlayStation game (web page in Japanese - click on the "Soundtrack" link for more information). There is an alternate web page in English for "The Book of Watermarks" game, and in Japanese (in Shockwave Format) or in Japanese (in HTML format) set up by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI), the game's distributer.

Old News : Máire Brennan at "Celtic Week at The Quays" - Galway - August 1998

In some even older news, we find that Máire Brennan was among several notable musicians who participated in "Celtic Rock Week at The Quays" which took place from August 3 to 8, 1998. The event was taped for broadcast later that year on RTE Radio 1 and TnaG (now known as TG4, the Gaelic language TV network in Ireland). The information comes to us from an article available on-line from the Galway Advertiser newspaper web site.

Old News : Pól Brennan's Music in Dance Production "Tombs" in 1998

In even older news, we find that former member of Clannad, Pól Brennan, composed music for "Tombs", a dance production work by the Dance Theatre of Ireland which played at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway on March 14, 1998. This information also comes from an article available on-line from the Galway Advertiser newspaper web site.

Máire Brennan Part of "Forever Friends Cruise" of the Greek Islands

Máire Brennan is one of the guests on board a Christian orientated cruise of the Greek Islands this summer called the "Forever Friends Cruise". The cruise is scheduled for June 17-24, 2000. The originating port is Venice, Italy with various destinations in the Greek Islands scheduled to be visited during the one week cruise.
