Opened in 1982 this school building contains four classrooms, a GP room, a staff room, an office, a kitchen, and store facilities. There is a basketball court outside and a field at the back of the school has been given for the use of children to play football in the drier months.

These are the teachers:

  • Éilis Dillon - Principal, who teaches Fifth and Sixth Classes.
  • Niamh Murtagh -  Deputy Principal, who teaches Second, Third and Fourth Classes.
  • Anne Mc Intyre who teaches Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class.
  • Geraldine Mongey - wbo is a part-time Resource teacher.
  • We also have a shared Learning Resource teacher -  Maureen Barlow.

There were five schools in this area which were all eventually amalgamated into the above school.

Masshill (Cnoc an Aifrinn), which means the hill of the Mass Rock was a one teacher school with about thirty pupils. This school was closed in the 1950's.

Carnaleck (Ceathrú na Leac),quarter land of the flagstone named after the large flat stone which is in the middle of the road beside the school, was closed in 1968. This was a two teacher school and had an enrolment of about thirty pupils. The local playschool is now situated in this building and it is also the meeting place for a writer's group.

Corsallagh( Corr Saileach) ,the swamp of the sallies replaced a hedge school. It was a two teacher school with an enrolment of sixty eight pupils when it closed in 1968.

Cloonacool Central School was a two/three teacher school which closed in 1982. The building is now the local community centre and houses many activities including cards, drama, meetings, music classes, youth club and school performances.
