This school has a very long tradition of excellence in a wide range of sporting activities ranging from basketball, soccer to the Irish / Gaelic games of football and hurling. There is strong emphasis on participation at all levels. The school team participates in Youth Sport West. Coaching will begin after Christmas.
The last time the boys won the County Competition in football was in 1991/1992.They have been finalists in the plate competition in 1996/1997 and in 1998/1999. The girls recorded their last win in this competition in 1992/1993 despite being finalists for the last two years.
The Ladies team from Cloonacool won the county and provincial titles but were unfortunately beaten in the All-Ireland Quarter Final. Congratulations on doing so well.
- A publication " Cluáin na Cúile, Cloonacool, It's People and Places " was launched at the club's annual dinner dance on January 7th 2000 in Cawley's Hotel, Tubbercurry. Price £5. Reprints can now be ordered by emailing us and we will pass on orders to the editor. Please add on £3 for postage.
