Some of our local Hurling stars took part in the Joe Cooney school of
Hurling last summer. This provrd very worthwhile and enjoyable fro the
participants. This year we are fortunate in that Joe will be making the
trip to Ransboro for a Coaching Day for all the young hurlers of the area
next week. More details next week.
Well done to under -16 player Damien Gildea on a very fine performance
in the All-Ireland Shot Putt competition in Nenagh at the week-end. Hard
luck to Damhain McFadden who had qualified the All-Ireland 60m race and
had great chance of success but unfortunately picked up an injury and
could not compete.
Four of our players, Luke Bree, Roger Leahy, Niall Quinn and Donncha
Sheridan helped out in a great performance by the local rugby team to
defeat a fancied Ballina team on Sunday in the semi-final of the Connaught
Cup. Best of luck in the Final.
Well done also to all the competitor who took part in the Community
games Basketball last Saturday and good luck to the two U- 13 teams in the
semi-finals this weekend.
The Suumerhill team had a good win over St Muredachs in the schools

and good luck to Michael McDermott, Damien Gildea and the other lads from
the area who are on the panel.
The Girls U 14 team played Grange least week and recorded a very good
win. This was a very good team performance with the usual players
dominating the game.

report next week-
Under 12 Boys played their second match last Tuesday at Ransboro Park
with Curry providing a formidable opposition. A great game of football was
served up by both teams with Curry taking advantage of the wind in the
first half and looking very confident at half time. The local team had
other ideas for the second half and really took the game to the
opposition. There was some excellent play throughout the second half with
a very exciting finish to the game. The ball was moved up and down the
field with speed and accuracy and with both teams scoring right up to the
final whistle . The end result was a share of the spoils with a draw which
was a fair result on the evenings performance. The management an be proud
of the excellent performance by all the .team.
The U-16 Boys played Eastern Harps in Keash on Friday evening last.
This was a tough game of football but the home team had the upper hand for
most of the game and were always on top on trhe scoreboard. Our team tried
hard to compete in the first half and had a few good spells but
unfortunately not enough to make a difference to the result. Harps started
well in the second half but Coolera-Strandhill fought back well and did
manage to get on top play wise towards the end of the second half. We had
the the majority of possession in the last quarter and got some fine
scores but were a bit unlucky not to be rewarded with a goal and a few
more points.
The Minor team were due to play Eastern Harps on Monday evening last.

Senior Team.
The club has had a senior Football Team since
In recent times it is one of the top clubs in the county and with a
little bit of luck could have been county Champions but unfortunately this
is not the case.
With the present squad of players the team is capable of beating any of
the other teams in the county.
With the present squad of players the team is capable of beating any of
the other teams in the county.
There is a wealth of experience and talent amongst the players with
most of them coming up through the underage structures within the club.
Many of the players have experienced the the game right through from
U-12 through to playing at County level for Sligo.
