Fundraising

Cork Boat Club is funded by membership subscriptions, corporate sponsorships and is also dependant on a number of fundraising activities. If you or you company would like to help in supporting our fundraising efforts please read on.

Race Night

One of the best supported events of the year is the annual race night. There is a race card comprising of 10 races with 10 horses in each race. You can support this event by buying a horse or sponsoring a race. If you buy a horse you can choose a name for the horse and prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place horse owners. If you sponsor a race the name of your company will be printed in the program.  On the race night you may place a bet on each race or buy a horse in the last race.To buy a horse or sponsor a race please contact Denis MacSweeny on 021 4294479.

The 2004 race night was in Blackrock Hurling Club on Friday 14th May. It was a very successful event and well attended by the younger members. The auction race was won by the syndicate of Paul Farrelly and Mark Wickham.

Golf Classic

During the month of July the club has run a Golf Classic at Douglas Golf Club for many years. The format is normally teams of three and run all day. Timesheets are available closer to the event. This is an ideal opportunity to take a day out and maybe entertain your customers or friends. Dates and venues for this years event will be posted on this page shortly. If you require further information on this event please contact John Mackey on 086 8118422.

Ergo Marathon

The "Erg Marathon" is run by the younger rowing members of the club. Using a number of rowing machines a marathon row is carried out at Douglas Shopping centre, funds are collected in the area where the event is taking place.

Boat Fund

The boat fund was established in 1993 to provide funds to upgrade the clubs boat stock. It has been supported mainly by members both past and present by way of a standing order of €13 per month. If you would like more information on joining the fund or require a standing order form please contact Dan Buckley 086 2594721.
