GLEN ROVERS 6-5   IMOKILLY 0-14
September 18th.
This was probably one of the most intriguing finals the club contested.Imokilly, the East Cork Divisional selection were well fancied to create a shock.Final Day was a dismal one and a great doubt existed if the match would be played at all. However,it went on and what a spectacle it was.

The "Cork Examiner" described it as follows:
"The first half especially provideed a standard hurling whaich was not only the best seen in a county final for many years but was even better than anything seen in the championship that season. The Imokilly team set the pace from the beginning and made it a cracker.Finding that Dave Creedon, the Glen 'keeper and captain, was in his best form the Imokilly forwards proceeded to shoot long range points from all angles".

Imokilly, playing with a strong breeze were nine points to two ahead with four minutes to go to half time but then the champions struck.Led by Jack Lynch they swept Imokillty to one side and with superb combination and craft paved the way for Donie Twomey to smash home two great goals leaving the score at the interval 0-10 to 2-2.

Bad luck struck Imokilly just after half time when they had a player sent off but they battled on and held the lead with 5 minutes to go.Christy Ring, who had been having a great game really turned on the style.Following a sparkling solo run, he passed the ball to Jack Lynch, who scored the equalising goal and then soloed through the Imokilly defence to score a goal himself. Jack Lynch again raised the green flag, Donie Twomey grabbed his third goal and and Jimmy Lynam pointed to send the cup back again to Blackpool.

This final marked the end to the illustrious careers of two of the clubs renowned stars, Din Joe Buckley and Jim Young.
