Department Health and Children
Question Written
To ask the Minister for Health whether any investigations have been carried out into incidences of Cancer in Celbridge, Leixlip, Lucan and Palmerstown to ascertain whether the level of cancer detection|treatment is higher in these areas than the national average; if not, whether there are any plans to carry out such an investigation; and if he will make a statement on the matterl

As the Deputy is aware, cancer statistics are collated by the National Cancer Registry.  My Department has been informed by the Registry that it currently does not have sufficient information to analyse cancer rates in small|local areas as would be required in order to present results on cancer rates in the Celbridge, Leixlip, Lucan and Palmerstown area and to compare these rates to the national average.  At present, case addresses in the National Cancer Registry's database are coded to county level only.  However, the Registry is currently in the process of geocoding addresses in their database to DED level (District electoral division), which will allow for analysis by local area.  The Registry expects to present results on cancer rates at local level in the future.  My department is currently not aware of any recent investigation into this matter.

Question Written
To ask the Minister for Education and Science what suggestions he has to enable St Andrew's NS in Lucan to adequately cater for its catchment area given his Department's refusal to provide aid for severely needed mainstream temporary accomodation?; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

To ask the Minister for Education and Science when it is likely that the Department will be able to provide funding for temporary accomodation at St Andrew's NS in Lucan given the extremely overcrowded conditions that currently exist at the school

I propose to take questions 246, 247, 248 together.I can confirm that St. Andrew's National School, Lucan has applied to my Department for temporary accommodation.

The 2003 building programme has now been published and full details in relation to individual projects are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie.

On the basis of the budgetary allocation it was not possible to include a project at the school concerned in the programme that was published in January.
