A Brief History of Success

 

5th Year Engineering student Stephen Church won 1st place in the Senior Technology (Individual) section of the 2006 Young Scientist Competition with his electronics project "ScanMan". Stephen also won the Analogue Devices award for best technological entry. Stephen won 1000 Euro for himself and 2500 Euro for the school. Stephen also received an all expenses paid trip to Boston and San Francisco to visit the Analogue Devices parent company.

Sean Feerick won the Best Engineering Student Award for Leaving Certificate Applied in 2005. Sean was presented with his gold medal by Minister Coughlan at the Engineering Teachers AGM in Letterkenny, Donegal.

2nd year Technology students Niall Leavy and Brendan Feehan won 1st place in the Junior Technology section (2002). The students also won the Irish Engineers Institute special award for science and technology in education. 

2001 was successful for two teams from our engineering class. Shane Mellon and Thomas Browne won 2nd place in the senior technology category, while Roberto Conti and Brian Cooney won the Irish Business Employers Confederation (IBEC) special award.

2000 was our first entry into the YSE competition. We were very pleased with the 3 awards won by Stephen Smyth and Edward Carroll. They won the IBEC and Enterprise Ireland special awards as well as the best display award in their category.
