“I am thrilled that the NY Times piece is still generating business. Hopefully, the word will continue to spread and business will be brisk. AND perhaps even you’ll have repeat business; hopefully including Camille and I.”

“It was a pleasure meeting you and I will certainly recommend you and look you up if I make it back. Thanks for everything.”

A response to a referral by Prof. Wortman by Jane Conneen

“Thank you so much for your speedy reply and for taking the time to tell me about David Hogan. It was pretty much what I had expected as I had formed the same opinion from a couple of long emails and a long telephone call. I had contacted car rental places and had received some short, polite replies but it was discouraging as nothing sounded very interesting or they just did regular ‘tours’. Your letter to the travel editor has done a great service to those of us who are too old to rent a car or too reluctant to take a chance on driving on the left. We had a couple of rather frightening ‘close calls’ when my husband or my daughter were doing the driving. If all works out, we will probably be going over at the end of May and staying over for a couple of weeks in June. Can hardly wait! Thanks again and very best wishes, Jane Conneen”

“…I am absolutely delighted to be writing to you about David though I worry that, still having a bit of jet lag, I won’t be able to think of words superlative enough to describe our wonderful three weeks in Ireland. We did not have a definite itinerary in mind – Just a few places from previous trips that we wanted to revisit and other places that we had not seen or that David could suggest. We were also free to change our minds ‘along the road’ if we saw some place that looked interesting! All the B&B’s that David chose for us when we were ‘touring’ were exceptionally nice….”, “….As for prices, I only had one other possible estimate and that was far more expensive than David’s. My first effort had been to email all the car rental places that advertised ‘chauffeur driven cars’, only to find that, though they did have these, it would only be if you used their itinerary and stayed at the hotels they selected. We wanted to have the freedom of being on our own without the worry of having to get used to driving ‘on the wrong side of the road’, so that we could concentrate on Ireland and its beautiful scenery…..”, “….This just describes our trip and our feelings about Ireland and you will no doubt want to do things differently, which is easy with David doing the driving and helping with the planning. I hope you will go and have as wonderful a time as we did, with a wonderful chauffeur who is now a wonderful friend.”

“My Dear David and Sue; Just had to let you know that I am home safely. Landed about 12:20pm our time. And of course, Janice was there to greet me. Feel like I have been on a Dream. Will write an epistle later. God Bless Hugs, Helen.” Ireland is a magical place to visit and is noted for its wonderful scenery, it’s castles and ancient monasteries and churches, its lovely cities and quaint towns and villages and its warm friendly people and of course its forty shades of green.

“…We have had so much fun telling stories about our honeymoon. Dave, thank you for making it such a wonderful experience for us. I can’t think of anything that would have made it better (okay, maybe if the sun had been out a bit more  - but I didn’t even mind the weather, we had the right gear for it and I got to buy lots of nice sweaters I love my new sweaters. I am actually looking forward to Fall so I can start wearing them more often. I think that all of our stories have been making an impact on my family, my mom is talking about having a ‘Dave Hogan’ trip to Ireland for her 60th birthday present. We’ll see maybe you’ll meet my parents next summer!...”

“…Many thanks for being a large part of our wonderful vacation week. Your presence and participation from day one forward was terrific. Please extend our thanks to Suzie as well. We’re getting the post-vacation blues, looking at the photos, and wishing we could have been in Ireland much, much longer. Our main comfort is knowing that we will return, no doubt about that…”

“…Our trip to Ireland was VERY, VERY memorable, thanks to one David Hogan. Must give him an A+. We had sights and informative knowledge that could never have been without him. We did a great amount of traveling. The Bed & Breakfasts were of top grade. Just wish I could unroll my eyes to share all I have seen. The Cliffs are awesome. Galway is such a lovely place. I did not take pictures. My daughter did and shall send them to me. I bought a lot of post cards for memory….”
