Last Chance to Save 52 Acres of Dublin Bay

The problem now is that we have a company called The Dublin Port Company, (which is a commercial state company) who's sole share holder is the minister for the Marine and natural resources presently Mr. Frank Flaherty seeking to infill 52 acres of Dublin Bay.  This isn't the first time the attempted infill has been visited upon the people of Dublin.  In its previous incarnation the Dublin Port and Docks board attempted this in 1988 and goes back to in fact 1980 when they were looking to infill 94 acres.  That's the problem if it was justified  at least that would be something but the Dublin  Port company has gone into a joint venture for development and they released over twelve acres of port company land to that is strictly a business park nothing to do with Port Activity on one hand they are looking for 52 acres claiming they need it for extra bertage in fact the 52 acres both from they present land usage, from their future land usage and their past land usage such as releasing that 12 acres to ouford that forms the extension Eastpoint business park.  The problem is that we have a state company who's ambition is to be  privatised in the next five to ten years.  One might say cynically that what they are looking to do is have 52 acres worth between 10 and twenty million , lets say an average figure of 15 million that's 750 million pounds achieved at relativity low cost.  However  there is a cost, both a social one and an environmental one.  The amenity of Dublin Bay is possibly the social one but also from the environmental value of Dublin bay.  Click Here to Read more about the environmental impact of this Infill.
