14th July - A Win to the Demons!
The
Demons score their first win in their 18 aside season against the Belfast
Redbacks at the Clanna Gael pitch in Dublin. As per usual custom, this
was followed by a mad night out on free beer, thanks to the Mad Hatter
in
Blackrock! *Crispy
Tuesday 8th May - Drogheda
Road Trip
Well done to all involved
in organising the Drogheda trip and indeed to Justin and the Dockers!!!
I’m sure anyone that attended would agree that the facilities and hospitality
were nothing short of 1st class. Good news on the Demons front with both
A & B Teams securing victory in all matches played, although it appears
that the Midland Tigers are a force to be reckoned with, especially in
the Nightclub after a game!!! New nicknames to be awarded for the trip
were:-
Stuart (Bozo) Harrison,
AKA the Walkabout Kid, Bozo, tell us, where did you get to really???
Shaun (Bouncer) Saurin,
AKA SHAGGY!!! (It wasn’t me!!!) For reasons that we will not enter into
here.
Big Phil (Porky), I’m not
sure how I got stuck with this but thanks Aaron!!!!
Jason (Beckham), Aptly named
for his white football boots!!!!

Tuesday 8th May - Farewell
This is indeed a sad time
in Demons history where we have to say a temporary farewell to some well
respected members of our great club. Not only have we to say goodbye to
“Captain Digs” but the time has also come to farewell KB and Header (The
Milky Bar Kid) all of whom have been great contributors to both the club
and the league since it’s inception. I’m sure the US will be able to handle
KB but I’m a bit worried about Header hooking up with Mooner’s and destroying
my home town of Perth.

Tuesday 8th May - Dublin

there may be alcohol consumed afterwards!!!!) Anyone interested in coming
down to cheer for the Demons is welcome with the game being held at Sandymount
and kick off from 12.00. or join us all at The Down Under Bar from 7.00pm

Sunday
22nd April
We're
getting set to head to the FSS cup in London. Most of the lads are taking
the Ryanair xxx flight over to Stansted on Friday and flying back on Monday
morning. We'll be staying at the BOKA Hotel in Earls Court and playing
on Saturday 28th April 2001 at Trailfinders Sports Ground, Vallis
Way, Ealing W13. The day will start with the first game kicking off
at 12 midday.
The easiest way to get to
the ground is by tube to Ealing Broadway where there will be a FREE shuttle
bus to the ground. If you get an over-ground train, the nearest station
is Castle Bar Park, which is a couple of minutes walk from the ground.

It's
happening again! The next Randiroo will be held on Friday 4th May
at the Down Under Bar (aka Major Toms). The Down Under bar have a constant
supply of Carton Cold, VB and Crown larger, as well as the regular beers.
As hard as we tried, we couldn't drink them out of supply last time. As
before, Peter Baxter will be there with prizes and beer drinking games.

Saturday
31st March
After
delays due to Foot and Mouth restrictions, our matches league begin.
Demons
A played the Leeside Lyons down in Cork. Although only a 9 a side match,
a strong side of 20 Lyons players were ready to play - a good sign of a
new and skilled side this season. During the game Choppo hit the deck with
a buggered knee, and required the frequent application of a pain
killing beverage. A great night out hosted by the Lads in Cork!

and to top if off, and a win by the Demons!

Wednesday
14th Feb
Dublin
Demons have been invited to play in a tournament in the US. The Chicago
Swans hosted a small tournament last year and are planning on hosting a
bigger one this year (hopefully 6-8 teams, with a few good choices amongst
them). Proposed dates for the tournament would be in August 2001, either
one of the weekends 11/12, 18/19 or 25/26. Already there is strong potential
interest from Denver (2000 US champs) and Nashville (finished about 5th
or 6th this year). Preliminary interest has also been shown by New York
and Boston and Canada.

Thursday
7th Dec Dublin in Your Backpack Opening at Major Toms
What
Dublin magazine launch party was held at Major Toms on Thursday 7th December.
Many arrived to take advantage of the cheap Fosters and loads of free prizes:
an overland safari in Africa, 2 nights accommodation in a hostel in Ireland,
internet access, a bus trip around Ireland, passes to the Irish Music Hall
of Fame, T-shirts. The Demons were there in full form - winning the sculling,
stripping and running to the bar game thingy (you had to be there...) Randy
was pleased to see two new skippy's on the block.

Saturday 14th October-2000
The Dublin Australian Rules
Tournament was held at Clanna Gael. Four teams participated, the Dublin
Demons, London Gryphons, the Belfast Redbacks and the Clanna Gael Celtic
Warriors. The Final was held between the Demons and the Gryphons, the Gryphons
winning with a goal just before final whistle. The Presentation was held
at Dicey O'Relies, followed by a long night of drinking out of trophies
(Flaming Sambuccas!) at the Vatican.
Thanks to Tír
na n-Óg tours for superb job in sponsoring the event. |
Saturday 14th October-2000
The All Ireland Australian
Rules Series final, match three of three, was held just prior to the Dublin
Aussie Rules Tournament. With the media attention of both RTE and Australia's
channel Seven, and with guest player Dipper (Hawthorn Footy Legend), the
game was well played and hard fought by both sides. The Dublin Demons were
the victors, taking the series trophy.
Friday 6th-October-2000
RANDIROO's third event.
Friday 1st-September-2000
RANDIROO's second event.
Another great night, raging till late with a 250 punters staying on till
4:30am to watch the ALF grand final live. The Boat race was "won" by those
cheating Kiwis this time, and the £1 Corona's and 2for1 Fosters pretty
well set the mood.
Saturday 19th-August-2000
The All Ireland Australian
Rules Series, Demons Vs Belfast, 2nd match of three at St Patricks, Drumcondra,
Dublin. With a full and healthy side, the Dublin Demons easily take the
second match. The North vs South series is tied at one game a piece.
Friday 4th-August-2000
RANDIROO was born. The brain
storm of Head and with help from DJ Hinds, Game Boy El Presente, Flier
Kabir, Diggs and Skippy the night was a great success. Open to all, the
Vatican was packed out by 9:30pm with merry Aussies, Kiwis and Irish making
the most of happy hour drinks and Anzac music.
Saturday 29th-July-2000
Demons Vs Belfast, first
match of three. After delaying the match a couple of weeks for the marching
season to settle down, the Demons traveled up to Belfast for a full game
of Aussie Rules. Grounds and Posts generously supplied by the Belfast Council.
After two weeks of fine, dry weather, it bucketed down five minutes before
kick-off! The ball was slipery and players were skiding all over the show.
It was a fun game none the less - the first victory going to Belfast.
Saturday 24th-June-2000
Irish Vs the Bogans at Clanna
Gael. With three lads dragging behind him, only a broken hamstring could
drop El Presedente. Another great intra-club game, the Bogans being the
victor this time. The day finished with Mooners and Mossy's send off at
Dicey O-Reilies.
Saturday 17th-June-2000
Demons Vs Clanna Gael GAA
club - International Rules. The GAA lads were skilled and fit. First half
was with a GAA ball, second half with an Aussie rules ball. A fine game
of International rules, hopefully the first of many to come.

We headed up to Belfast
for a combined training session with the Redbacks.
Friday 3rd-March-2000
The Belfast lads dropped
in to Dublin, and over a few pints, announced the 25th March match
against the London Lyons. The Demons have accepted the invitation to participate
in the First Aussie Rules Game in Northern Ireland!
Sunday 27th-Feb-2000
We confirmed our membership
fee of £30 (including insurance fees). Some discussion was held regarding
hiring a bus, filling it full of booze and players, and heading off over
to the Bundi Cup 15th April - leaving Friday morning and returning late
Sunday night. Still tossing about ideas regarding goal posts. With lateral
thinking on overdrive, Kiwi Glen came up with a laser goal post idea and
Crispy continues with a water spout goal design. Both idealist were dismissed
on the grounds that they were engineers, and that they should not be taken
seriously unless fully sober.
Sunday 30th-Jan-2000
Belfast lads drop in for
a training session, and a few beers. The lads have a ground up in Belfast
suitable for a game of Aussie Rules. Preparations have begun for a match
between the two teams - the first Aussie Rules match in Ireland!
Wednesday 26-Jan-2000
Australia Day! An Aussie
Party was held at Major Toms. The lads proudly maintained the Aussie reputation
good time was had by all.
Sunday 23-Jan-2000
Training as usual.
Minor causalities during half game work: the flying Mossy took out Crispy
in a head and jaw clash. 10min later, Mossy and Dooley meet with a head
and hip clash.
Australia Day party may happen
on Weds at the Embassy - Kerran to advise. Jessa to nominate a venue for
Aussie pissup on Saturday night - somewhere in Temple Bar.
Thursday 20-Jan-2000

Court Hotel, see the minutes for details. Wicklow GA team have shown interest
