THE
RULES
Click here for the Laws Of The Game in gory detail. The following is a short general summary of the rules. Each team consists of eighteen players with an extra four players on the interchange bench. These interchange players can come on and off at any stage through the match. A game consists of four quarters of twenty minutes each. Time on is added when a goal is scored or a bounce up is conducted. The ball is bounced in the centre of the ground to commence the game. The players then either hand-pass or kick the ball towards their goals. Players can not throw the ball. There are four score posts in a line at each end of the field. The middle two posts are the goal posts and are taller than the two outside posts. A goal is scored when a player kicks the ball through the two tallest posts. Six points is given for a goal. A behind is scored if the ball is kicked between the tall and short posts. One point is given for a behind. A mark is conceded if a player catches the ball if it has been kicked over 10m. That player take his time and take a free kick without fear of being tackled by the opposition. Players may fully tackle their opponent only if he has the ball. The tackle is taken around the waist (between the shoulder and knee) and pulling back on the player with the ball. The tackling player cannot push his opponent forward. The player being tackled is to immediately hand-pass or kick the ball. Failure to do so will result with "Holding the Ball", and a free kick is given to opposing side. The tackled player cannot drop the ball. A player running with the ball has to bounce it or touch it on the ground within every 15m. |
