The Ulster Championships

On Sunday last the club travelled to Rich hill for the under age Ulster championships. In the under 14’s, category there was more prize winners for the Emyvale club with Darren Mc Adams the best of four Emyvale riders in the event with an excellent Silver medal for a 2nd place finish. James Kane also received a prize for coming home in 6th. Michael Mc Aree & Barry Hughes both had a great race to finish in the main bunch.

This coming Sunday June 9th the under age riders will be travelling to Banbridge for a UCF league event.

After his excellent result in the Emyvale Race, Paul Brady was again in action on a 3 day event in Dunboing for C’s, Vets and Juniors at the weekend. There where 170 cyclists taking part in this event. Paul put in some great performances over the 3 days to finish 11th on the last stage and 3rd Juniors.

The next Event that the club will be hosting is one of the most prestige’s events on the racing calendar, the Under 23, Vet’s and Junior All Ireland Championships which will be held on Sunday the 14th of July. The main sponsor for the event will be Mc Elvaney Motors. There has been a lot of organising and planning over the past few months to ensure that the event will be a total success. With still more to be done the club would appreciate all members to lend a hand in any way they can and to make themselves available for marshalling on the day.

Touring News

There was another great turn out of riders for the Sunday spin last week which left Emyvale at 9.30am. The quiet roads at this time of the morning provided some of the cyclists the perfect opportunity to get used to their new bicycles. We hope they have them broke in for the Wicklow in two weeks.

The continuing Tuesday and Thursday night spins, which leave Emyvale at 6.45pm, are a perfect opportunity for new members to join and take part in low distance spins. With a number of members looking forward to taking part in the Wicklow 200km there will be an alternative route on these nights which will provide a few more climbs and will be leaving at 7.00pm. The Sunday spin will be leaving Emyvale at the usual time of 9.30am.

Up coming outings for the touring club include the Wicklow 200(km) on the 16th of June. This will be followed by the two day Border Trek the week after which consists of 100 miles each day.
