OUR SCHOOL

Gaelscoil an Longfoirt, Longford's all Irish Primary School made history when it opened its doors to a class of 20 Naionán Bheaga on 1st September 1998. It was a culmination of eight months of very hard work by the organising/funding committee. Yvonne Ní Mhurchú was appointed as Principal of the school. A Board of Management was formed and Foras Patrúnachta na Surleanne Lánghaeilge is our Patron.

Gaelscoil an Longfoirt is a catholic school and is situated at Auburn Court, Market Square, Longford. Gaelscoil an Longfoirt is going from strength to strength and is proud to be part of a nationwide trend towards an All-Irish System of Education.

Gaelscoil an Longfoirt offers an all-round education for the children of County Longford. It is recognised, inspected and funded by the Department of Education and Science. It follows the curriculum laid down by the Department of Education and Science. English does not lose out in any way.

Extra curriculum activities at Gaelscoil an Longfoirt include; Feadóg Stáin, Snamh, Rince Gaelach and Riomhairi. Tanganne Gaeilge is organised for parents and the community. Enrolments are ongoing for September 2002 and future years.
