Original Hedgerow, leg 2.
Bright but cold. |
I found this Sarcoscypha austriaca and thought I'd check the spores. As I extracted it from the leaf litter, I noticed that the 'stipe' was very long, presumably to allow the cap to reach the surface for spore-shooting. Length as shown: 3 cm. |
And sticking with the fungal theme, I wondered if the Sycamore Tar Spot would show any structure under magnification. It does. Rhytissma acerinum. |
Another sign of spring: Goat Willow catkins. A good bit later than last year, however. Salix caprea.
