Border of Spruce forestry.

Some snow overnight, around zero all day.

A scene-setting shot. This area is deep within the forestry, with a fast-running stream going deep under the path. Badgers use the right-hand side of the path extensively, and there is a Willow-filled clearing just to the rear. An ancient lichen-covered Hawthorn hangs over the stream to the left. The path is lined with umbellifers of all kinds in the summer, so this area is good for ichneumons and dragonflies in July and August.

Most of the Haws have dropped, but this one was still bright red and fresh-looking.

Willow buds are swelling nicely, and will soon be open.

This shot shows the large number of Willow Cabbage galls that are present. They show up most clearly at this time of year.
