Drumboe Wood.

2 x Orange Tip (m), 1 x Peacock.

Warm and sunny.

On arriving at the wood the first thing I saw was this young Beech tree with chewed leaves. A little bit of investigation turned up these little (5mm.) weevils. Strophosoma melanogrammum.

Birch catkins are fully open, now.

A couple of metallic insects. A Tachinid (parasitic fly) - Gymnocheta viridis - on the left and the Dock Leaf Beetle - Gastrophysa viridula.

Micro-moths are back. These are Micropterix calthella on Cuckoo-flower.

And staying with the Cardamine, an Orange Tip egg.

A tiny (9mm.) solitary bee.

Wood Speedwell - Veronica montanum - adds its subtle colouring to the undergrowth.

The Cardamine was also host to this extremely elongated spider with its Lesser Cranefly (Tipulidae) victim.

Elder flowers are in bud.
