Frequent heavy showers.

This little (1cm) Sawfly was wandering around over and under new Beech leaves.

 

Horse Chestnut blossom is now at its heady best.

 

These are the eggs of the Dock Leaf Beetle - Gastrophysa viridula. This leaf is doomed.

 

The first Herb Bennet flower of the year - Geum urbanum.

Leucozona lucorum is usually very fast and evasive. This specimen was very lethargic, and may have just hatched. A handsome hoverfly.

    

 

Oak leaves are the last tree leaves to appear.

Top and bottom shots of Phytomyza ranunculi - a leaf-mining fly on Lesser Celandine.

    

 

A nice shot of Creeping Buttercup - Ranunculus repens.

At last another grass - Yorkshire Fog - Holcus lanatus. The first sighting in 2005 was on the same date.
