Original Hedgerow, leg 2.

Frequent heavy rain.

A new hoverfly species for the site: Eupodes latifasciatus. The yellow marks are said to look like spectacles.

I thought I might get my first shot of an Ichneumon ovipositing directly into a Sawfly larva, but this was obviously the wrong species. After a brief inspection the Ichneumon flew on. The larva is a very early instar of Nematus pavidus - the Lesser Willow Sawfly.

Larva about 5 mm. long.

Coprinus disseminatus - Fairies Bonnets - always grows in dense clusters on or near deciduous stumps. Individual mushrooms about 8mm diameter.

Two more fungal images. A gone-over Coprinus (left) and Mycena galericulata. The season has certainly started.

I haven't seen so many rusts this year. Now that the wet weather has returned I might catch a few more. This is on Salix caprea - Goat Willow.

This snail caught my eye as it lay on the Bramble.
