High Heath.
Frequent showers after a dry start. |
Leaf-miners have been a bit less obvious this year, or maybe I've been distracted by all the flying insects that the good weather has brought. Agromyza nana, an Agromyzid Fly. |
I always find LBJs (Little Brown Jobs) very difficult. These are very common in Sphagnum moss. Galerina sp.
I just discovered Galerina paludosa. |
Sonchus arvensis - Perennial Sow Thistle - takes two forms on the patch. The first grows on verges and has shiny, strongly-spiked leaves. This one grows in the high bog and has matt, soft leaves. The rest of the plant checks out ok, so I suppose the species must vary more than the books admit.
