Local wasteland.

Today I noticed that one of our normally-present species is missing (at least in the places I looked). The Marsh Willowherb likes very damp feet, but this year many of the ditches have dried completely. So it looks like weather controls not only the appearance and condition of plants, but also affects their presence on a year by year basis.

Sunny and hot.

Two shots of one of the parents of last week's hybrid Willowherb, Epilobium x.floridulanum. This is Hoary Willowherb - Epilobium parviflorum.

The fruit of Common Figwort, looking just like, er, figs.

The second generation of Small Tortoiseshell appeared today in numbers.

A moth attracted to domestic light - Common Wainscot - Mythimna pallens.

A micromoth on Fir taken on a little detour. Catoptria margaritella.
