Deforested area.

Heavy showers.

A rolled leaf always gets my attention. What will it be?...a moth?....spider?...micromoth? Nope. An Earwig, probably using an abandoned shelter.

Scathophagus dungflies always interest me. Dung-eaters as larvae and voracious predators as adults.

The Nematus larvae are still hanging on, although we're down to about 100 specimens from the original 1000. The individual to the right shows a disadvantage of communal living: higher specimens have to drop their dung somewhere.

I'm still trying to make up my mind if this Raspberry-eating sawfly larva is the same species as the one from 10 August. Arge gracilicornis if so.

A Meadow Buttercup straggler.
