Coniferous plantation.

Frequent heavy showers.

Lactarius rufus is by far the most common Lactarius in coniferous areas in the patch. The milk has a delayed action, but is quite hot.

Paxillus involutus - the Brown Roll-Rim - was considered to be edible until quite recently. It turns out it contains a cumulative toxin which is eventually fatal. So don't believe the older books.

In addition, it is usually associated with Birch, but this was deep in darkest Spruce.

A rather interesting Russula with an enticing fruity smell. Russula queletii.

And an opportunistic shot of Conocybe lactea from a neighbour's garden.
