Deciduous fringe of Coniferous plantation.

Frequent heavy showers.

This Psathyrella is very numerous tucked in at the base of hedges. The cap is usually clay-coloured, but turns almost white when dry (as if!). Psathyrella marcescibilis looks closest.

A rare chance to photograph a few insects: we've now had rain on 45 consecutive days.

Left to right: a small Sawfly with a yellow abdomen, a Lesser Dungfly and a very delicate Ichneumonid.

Here's the little Ichneumonid in better detail. It seems like she has a very short, blunt ovipositor.

Every time I'm out at the moment I see one or two tiny (3 cm.) Speckled Wood butterflies. I'm wondering if they've squeezed in a third brood.

As if one Willow Leaf Beetle wasn't enough. Gastrophysa viridula.
