Heath on deforested area.

 

Dull and wet.

Having gone to the effort of growing my own Ceratodon purpureus capsules, I found this batch on shallow soil and took advantage of the setting sun.

 

I think this is Polytrichum juniperum. It's a lot smaller than the other Polytrichums I've shown so far. These are the antheridia, at any rate.

So far I haven't a clue about this brown-leaved specimen. About 1 cm. across.

 

Breutelia chrysocoma has been described as a pale-green bottle brush.

 

A liverwort growing in the hole left by a fallen tree. It looks most like Pellia epiphylum. Again. Thallus about 4-5 mm wide.
