Steeple (Mullaghagarry) Wood.

Warm and sunny.

I'll start of with the easy stuff. Bilberry (left) and Greater Woodrush (right).

This could be my new favourite moss: Dicranum majus. The clump to the left is about 10 cm. across.

The fertile shoot of Equisetum arvense - Field Horsetail.

A leafy liverwort that was eluding me. Calypogeia muelleriana.

Another leafy liverwort that looks like Diplophyllum albicans. The under-leaves are pointed, as the (poor) close-up shows.

Both this liverwort and the last one were growing on a crumbly vertical bank under trees.

Mnium hornum, showing the almost flower-like antheridia.

This shot of the Mnium hornum capsules would make an excellent portrait if blown up.

This woodrush leaf acted as a water conduit from the upper part of the bank.

On the return journey, a south-facing bank covered in Slender Speedwell - Veronica filiformis.

I took this shot of the Eristalis and noticed that the wing veins showed up well. The close-up shows a nice echo with the flower structures.
