2nd April

Quite dull again, today. Went to a number of locations.

This Horse-tail is on the boggy bit of the original hedgerow, and grows branchless in the sluggish stream. Based on the very thin stem walls, I'm plumping for Water Horse-tail, although it might be the hybrid with Field Horse-tail which is only a few metres away.

Two round crustose lichens. Left, on a rock and right, on Ash bark (Opegrapha atra).

This Yellow Archangel is almost certainly an escape, but it makes large patches of verge, even in remote hedges.

Oilseed Rape has escaped from fields and has established itself as the prime wild brassica in this area, as well as others.
