14th February

Brilliant sunshine, today, after a foggy and slightly frosty start. Photos from the river Deele. Insects and spiders were busy for the first time since October.

Two mosses from the bridge - a very fruitful area for pictures.

Tortula muralis (L) and Grimmia pulvinata (R)

Two lichen pictures from the ancient wall leading to the bridge.

On the left, our ever present Ochrolechia parella (and spider). On the right a Parmelia.

And two domestics: A bumble bee on my doorstep and a Sundog taken just as the sun was getting low in the sky. Sundogs are created when ice crystals in thin, high clouds refract the light from the sun.
