14th February |
Brilliant sunshine, today, after a foggy and slightly frosty start. Photos from the river Deele. Insects and spiders were busy for the first time since October. |
Two mosses from the bridge - a very fruitful area for pictures.
Tortula muralis (L) and Grimmia pulvinata (R) |
Two lichen pictures from the ancient wall leading to the bridge. On the left, our ever present Ochrolechia parella (and spider). On the right a Parmelia.
|
And two domestics: A bumble bee on my doorstep and a Sundog taken just as the sun was getting low in the sky. Sundogs are created when ice crystals in thin, high clouds refract the light from the sun.
