Around and about today. The Blackthorn was in a hedgerow to the south of town, as was the Willow. The lichens came from the old willow in the bog.

The Blackthorn flowered on April 19th last year, so we're nearly 5 weeks earlier this year. I also notice that last year's bushes had leaves when they flowered. This year only leaf buds are present. The flowers are very pretty in close-up.

The willow catkins have fully opened, now. The verge is getting very colourful already.

And lastly, a trio of lichens on a broken branch of the old willow in the bog.

Ramalina fastigiata at the top.
