Original Hedgerow, leg 2.

 

Showers.

 

Meadowsweet is now in full flower along verges and hedgerows.

Two interesting contrasts in proboscis shape. On the left, a Stiletto Fly, with a forward protruding one. On the right, a Dance Fly with a wicked hooked one. They both end up doing the same job: sucking fluids from their prey.

    

 

An insect gall on nettle. At first I swithered between fungal and insect, but as a general rule, fungi are indiscriminate about location, whereas insects can be very particular: in this case along the central vein.

 

Raspberries are ripe, now. Seems a little early, especially given the weather...
