25th June

Next>

Deciduous fringe of coniferous forestry.

Back after a break in Scotland. Scottish images will be shown from June 29th.

Brief sunny periods.

Three shots of the hoverfly Syrphus ribesii on Common Catsear.

The mine of the micromoth Phyllonorycter messaniella on Beech.

A wonderful little micromoth photographed as it rested low down amongst grass stems. Incurvaria praelatella, a leaf miner that pollinates orchids. New to Co. Donegal.

Another specimen of Common Wave flew past and landed on the Spruce tree. A male this time.

A single female Bibio lanatus. No males yet.

Another mine, this time on Marsh Ragwort. I've been through the Senecio species and didn't get a hit. Maybe a polyphage.

There are actually two mines: a smaller one on the right.

The hoverfly Neoascia podagrica on the right and a minute (perhaps 2mm.) parasitic wasp on the lower left.

A solitary female Melanostoma hoverfly on Field Horsetail.
