An excellent mine of the micromoth Stigmella tityrella on Beech. Unfortunately for the moth, the mine is not nearly as long as usual, and is 'confused' towards the end. I strongly suspect this larva has been parasitised. I can pinpoint the spot of parasitisation: the highest point visible on the mine. After that, the frass suddenly becomes randomly dispersed and the mine becomes less focussed in direction. |
