Domestic.

Dull and damp.

About 3 weeks ago I bought a packet of capsicums from a local supermarket. When I opened the packet I found a moth pupa inside a white spun web. I popped the pupa into my hatching tank (as one does) and today this specimen of Golden Twin-spot hatched. This is a southern European species and has never been recorded in Ireland before. Chrysodeixis chalcites.

This oblique shot shows the golden sheen on the upper wings.
