Approach to Beltany circle.

Dull and wet.

This is the micromoth Agonopterix arenella, which looks to have excellent camouflage for coniferous forestry, but is, in fact, a Thistle and Knapweed specialist.

New to Co. Donegal.

Just outside the forestry - the Spruce Carpet - Thera brittanica.

Many of the mosses are putting up new growth before they start to produce sporing capsules. Mnium hornum.

Something had left these bones after (presumably) eating the rest of the carcase. If the bones are of a bird, then it's chicken-sized.

It was a bit of a surprise to find Viola riviniana in flower in September, although I found it in a very similar location around the same date last year.
