A fungal foray at Ards Forest park with the NIFG.
Overcast with an eventual downpour that terminated proceedings. |
This Entoloma serrulatum was pale blue on the upper surface. |
This is the Hare's Ear - Otidea onotica. It grows under Beech. Sample about 3.5 cm. tall. |
This Tricholoma sulphurea smells strongly of coal-gas. Not much mistaking that one. Cap about 6 cm. across.
|
I liked this pair of fungi from one of the darkest parts of the forest. The orange specimen is a waxcap - maybe Hygrocybe miniata, with a very small Amethyst Deceiver growing under it. |
This is a rather large waxcap - Hygrocybe pratensis. It tends to grow in fields, but this was at the edge of a relatively young deciduous plantation. Cap about 6 cm. across.
|
Three pictures of a tiny Mycena growing on the cone of a Cypress. The cone shown is about 15 mm. across. The close-up of the smallest specimen shows that the whole fungus is transparent. The size of that one makes it smaller than a pin-head. Maybe Resinomycena saccharifera.
